Our little man sent me into early labour around 1pm May 13 after drinking pitchers of raspberry tea. Finally headed to the hospital around 8 pm, with a pit stop at burger king. ;)
By the time we were seen at 930pm, they wanted to send us home! Simpering nurse thought I should walk around Regina for a couple hours. Until near midnight, um NO. So we went for a fudgicle and walked the hospital halls with me bent over stamping me feet and grabbing the railings.
Finally at 1130 we returned and were instantly admitted to the last available room. (Other women weren't so lucky and laboured in the hallways and waiting rooms!)
Got the epidural around 1am, thank Gawd! Made it possible to doze between contractions. Water broke around 3am, things got intense at 7 am as Tyler was wanting to be OUT! also, his heart rate was up and down, which made the nurses prepare for an emergency c section. I threw up whenever I was on my back, what a mess.
My Dr arrived just in time to deliver, the back up doc was already on the scene. I was kind of out of it with pain and exhaustion. I left Sean to the niceties. The room filled with 11 staff as things weren't going very well. I tried lots of birthing positions but few were compatible with Tylers heart rate. Finally, I pushed him out on my back, Sean and a nurse holding my legs, Dr using the vacuum. Sean cried as he announced it was a perfect little boy at 857am May 14.;
I didn't get to see too much of him initially as he was having a serious check up and I was getting stitched up (only a few stitches caused by the vacuum)
Finally got him in my arms. What a little cutie pie! His poor scalp was bruised and he had a funny misshapen head for a day where the vacuum had grabbed the side of his head.
Didn't take long for grandparents to run in and cuddle him. And, he and I were given a clean bill of health around 3pm on May 15, and we were sent home.
